The Challenge
As with all the substation projects that we have done in the past, this was extremely challenging because of the tolerance levels that Eskom specifies.
Our client, therefore, had specified a cost effective, strong, durable epoxy floor for this substation building. We knew that when installing Power Substation Floors – BASF MasterTop 1210 Epoxy is an excellent option because of its hardness and relative affordability – and so it was specified for the project.
An additional challenge however was that the concrete slab levels were extremely poor, so we had to use self-compacting concrete to build levels to within tolerance.

The Solution
Our solution in this case was clear.
For Power Substation Floors – BASF MasterTop 1210 Epoxy is a multi-component solvent free epoxy floor coating system designed to offer continuous seamless floor protection at thicknesses between 1mm – 1.5mm.
We had no hesitation in its specification.
The Outcome
We met this difficult mandate with a correct choice of the right product and applying our usual highly professional standards of installation. The result was a perfectly flat, durable epoxy floor as per our client’s specifications.
