Sport Facility – Lafarge Artevia Exposed Aggregate
The Challenge
CT INDUSTRIES has been a proud sponsor of the Randburg Football Association since 2013 when we first sponsored new tiles for their facilities.
The Artevia project was also a sponsorship initiative to enhance the entrance area of the club as well as to make it safer for the children. Our challenge was to create a strong durable decorative concrete finish – perfect for indoors as well as outdoors. We specified Lafarge Artevia Exposed Aggregate Concrete
We casted two colours of concrete for this project, each on its own level in front of the club house. Both slabs were immediately covered with a Surface Concrete Retarder and left over night.
The next morning we used one of our modified planetary grinders to brush off the top layer of concrete in order to expose the aggregate.

The Solution
The solution to the challenge lay partly in the product chosen which was Lafarge Artevia Exposed Aggregate Concrete – a strong durable decorative concrete finish – perfect for indoors as well as outdoors.
Another part of the solution was the use of the modified grinder which replaces the need to use high-pressure water sprayers to expose the aggregate, making it a lot faster, cleaner and more environmentally friendly. Gone are the days of a stream of cement water running down the road for the entire days exposing work!
The Outcome
Like any great soccer team we rose to our own challenge with flying colours! The result is an expertly installed, functional and beautiful floor that enhances the Randburg Football Association Clubhouse and makes it safer for the children.
